A Month is a long time away

It's been a month or so in Ireland. Have to say its been one of the best experiences so far. Still slightly shy to try new things but in this next month its my goal to be 'yes man' and not restrict myself from fun and memorable memories. Money is an issue though, so have to budget the Euros right or else I am going to have think of clever cardboard boxes and dance around or something so people can give me alms.

This past week has been great. Monday was quiet. Tuesday went out after work with a co-intern and met new friends from the program. It was 2 euro night at the this place called Dicey's. It's a great place. I drank alot, ate the best burger (beef!), and drunkenly told my life story to new people. hahaha. One funny moment was, when I went to the toilet I started talking to the toilet service attendant about love and girls, etc. It is perhaps one of my favorite memories because despite all our differences through gender, cultural, religion, nationalities, ethnicity, social network use (facebook or google+ or myspace), etc. we all come together through love. if only we would be just a little patient to understand each other, world would be a better place. i talked to this man and he opened up to me. it was great. also, the second time around i went to toilet i got lost in the three-story bar and walked through and around people to get back to my table....for 40 mins. fml.

Wednesday night was hard at work. I was hungover and could get barely any work done. However I got it done and came and napped. Thursday was better at work and it seems like last few weeks are going to be boring with what the my supervisor and the rest of the credit and collections team wants us to do. But hey, data management is a useful skill and experience.
Thursday night, went out in the night. It was a good night, because I was really pumped and excited and cheery to begin the night. But then soon I had to calm down because people around me were not as pumped. Friday, morning was quite awful. I was off work, but we had to go to UCD for a 'class', all that the prof. did was ask us if we had any questions and then told us it has high expectations from us on something I really don't see the point to.
--> We have to do two papers. First, a reflective paper regarding our learning and cultural experiences in Ireland. Second, a research paper regarding a topic in business, finance, economics.

Anyways, once we got back I stayed in bed for the next 7-8 hours so I could just chill and be as lazy as possible. It was a good time. I watched Transformers 3. Not disappointed but I do want to watch all three movies back to back to back. Optimus Prime is my role model. hahaha.

Around 10:30p when I was getting ready to call it a night, my friend told me to come over. I didn't drink at all that night except for the most perfect Long Island Ice Tea. yumyumyum. We were celebrating one of our friend's upcoming (at midnight) 21st bday. Went to a place called Rody's. Great bar. Great place. Great people. Music was good. Waitresses were cute and they would deliver your drinks to your table.
--> Alrite so the one thing that's been bothering me in Ireland is that people here 'dance' very differently. Guys and Girls here dance like its junior prom and you can't touch each other because you are still going through an awkward phase of puberty/touching. They are also slow to the beats. But, I am sure they are having fun so, good for them. to each his own. I just wanted to share that.

We were at the upper level, where not many people were around, except two couples double dating. The men sat down and drank and talked about big business, while their women stepped onto the dance floor and had a baller time. (baller = really good time).

Saturday morning, woke up. Again stayed in bed for a little bit and then went grocery shopping. I bought alot of cereal, granola bars, milk, chilli ketchup, bread, chicken, etc. and bought premixed cola and capt. morgan in a can (pretty good), and Kobra beer (it's indian and better than Budweiser). Mmm, also then went over to my friend's for his 21st and we played beer pong, 1-2 record. It was whole lotta fun. As most of the group was to Cork this weekend, it was just four or five of us that ended up going out. One of my friend's roommates makes absolutely the best chocolate frosting from scratch. We went out late and ended up going to this place called Coppers. It is a dual floored dance place. We went downstairs and it was full of people. the birthday boy danced with a girl who was a 10/10. I tried dancing with her friend, she was a complete poopieface. Most girls are. hahahaha. jk.

We walked back and went to a kebab place called Tasty Grill. There I talked in Hindi/Urdu to two guys, an Afganistani guy and Pakistani guy. Really nice people, and must of our conversations were regarding their cultural experiences in Ireland since they moved here. Both were like 24-26 and married with working at the restaurant as their primary jobs. Hopefully they will find jobs closer to their dreams. But it was great to talk in hindi again. And my donner kebar was double the size of the normal and charged me only 6 euro. So life is good.

Long post. I hope you are doing well,

I am supposed to be working on a paper. However, I am having a really bad writer's block so I thought I write here.

I have about a month left till I have to get back home. August 8th is my date set for return to the States. Hopefully this time around the flight will be 10 hours like its supposed to be and not require a stay in at the Philadelphia airport, which mind you is a decent airport with terrible professionals as workers.

Life's been good here. My workweek is from Monday - Thurs. My roommate and I work at the same place Bentley Systems International. So when he wake up, I wake up. My first week I bought lunch from a nearby sandwich place which is pretty good. All this week I made myself something edible. Luckily, they had food for us at the office since it was the end of the financial quarter and the managers need some good work with faster results. Or they were just being nice.

I haven't been up to much lately. Work is tiring so come back and watch numerous episodes of Simpsons and Friends.

Last night went out with everyone. Pre-gamed hard. Finished a 200 ml of Jack Daniel's and Absolut. Had a good time from what I remember. And prolly said and did stupid stuff. Don't care. It was a fun night.

Today was tough. I've had a hangover all day. Feel like shit. Have to do a paper, but probably won't get to it until tomorrow morning. AH

I am starting to miss everyone back home. Its 4th of July weekend. I want to buy boat shoes. I can't find any...someone help!

Just finished watching Total Recall, and now watching Coming to America (unedited)...absolutely hilarious

On a more serious note, can't wait to be back home.

take care

Weird Dream -_-

This is a offshoot of my previous blog. However, I wanted to put in words the mindset I was in when I woke at 6 am in the morning angrier than I've ever been.

My roommate woke me up in the middle of what I can describe as one of the worst sleeps I've ever had.
In it I saw my grandparents, who have all now passed on. And me telling them how much I missed them and loved them. It was painful (within the dream and now that I rethink about my dream) to see them leave. Since I was younger, I never let it affect me emotionally. I know I am already an emotionally a weak guy, but now I've come to accept it and have been working on getting stronger.

Then it was also a repeat of all the drama, the heartaches, the heartbreaks, the fights, the feeling of loneliness, the depression, etc. from freshman year and fall of last year in one dream. I don't know what it was about, or where all this came from, but I am ok now.

On the bright side, I get to sleep now! :-)

Got Lost in Dublin

So if you didn't know, my internship schedule is monday thru thursday. I leave at 5 exactly because I don't want to stay any longer than I have to. However, yesterday I had to have my work laptop updated so its works CRM and SAP. I spent an hour screen sharing with dundundun...a brown basket who took an hour to troubleshoot the program.
Once done, the guy I share my working area with and I walked towards a place for the foreign exchange he was telling me about. On our walk we discussed the varied economic conditions of Ireland and the United States and the impact of the economic environment that forces people to be homeless. The mutual conclusion was its because of corrupt governments and the lack of curry in the either economies. (jk).

So we get to the mall and part ways, i try to find the forEx and find out they don't take 100 dollar bills. So disappointed I walk out of the area. And keep walking, and eventually realize I was lost. Long story short i walked around the city for two and half hours I people watched, got to a forEx that ripped me off but whatever, looked at the natural environment of the Irish people and how they interact with each other. It was enlightening.

After two hours when I got back home. My roommates were planning on going out, so I went out mainly to drink and celebrate my sister's graduation from high school. CONGRATS AND I LOVE YOU! :-). Drank a bit too much than I wanted to, but it happens. I was hanging out with other people from our program. It was a great night. However I came back earlier when I realized most of my friends out and about being hit on or hitting on the members of the opposite sex. I am still unable to small talk with people I see around but never talk to. I am still liking life being single, but realize its good to be more social and outgoing. So my new goal is to be less of an introvert.

Its been a week....read this

Its been a week since I updated, so I will try to update starring the days and highlighting some of the good things.

Last Thursday my class ended. That was a great thing, then the kids in the class got our professor to come out to the pub/bar with us a for a pint of guinness.

Friday: we woke up then took a long bus ride towards the city of galway. in the middle we stopped by the monastic site of cl0nmacnoise. it had a great view and some great history. then we went to a whiskey distillery. it was great. there was a barrel of whiskey that obama brewed. yes he can!
then we got to galway. we were living in a hostel which was apparently ranked as one of the best hostels in Ireland...wooo...they still charged me for internet. boo

Saturday: woke up after a night of a lot of drinking that i had not done in a while. drank a lot. the irish are so nice. a lot of people helped me decide what drinks i should order to get drunk faster. after breakfast we went took the bus to this town called connemara. a town full of nice cows, some sheep, some donkeys, and beautiful scenery and soil. the scenery was pretty. the irish bus driver was so nice. singing to us. but he did it once, it was nice. but then he kept doing it. got a little bit annoying. and when everyone was falling asleep he would play loud irish music for 30 seconds.
then we went to kylemore abbey, which looked like hogwarts because it was at the bed of a mountain and surrounded by a lake and was a HUGE house thing. it had a victorian garden with it. absolutely disappointing. i dont care about different patterns of grass.
then went out again in the night - dublin beat galway in hurling. great day.
usually, on the streets of galway come out men, women, and creepers alike to promote certain pubs and bars. there's a coyote ugly type bar which had 20 different promoters. pretty annoying actually.

Sunday: woke up. checked out of the hotel and took a bus tour to aillwee cave and a birds of prey zoo type thing. the cave was alright. it was a natural site which was a typical cave. nothing too spectacular. it can get pretty dark in their though. the birds of prey were owls, eagles, vultures, hawks, a raven, and random pictures of penguins.
and then we went to the cliffs of moher, an absolute gorgeous site of 8 km wide set of cliffs right by the see. it was damn amazing. camera died so no pics. pretty pissed about that still.
additionally, i sat next to a indian family and uncleji talked to me about american, irish and indian culture and did traditional indian uncleji hand motions...like the bulb. i giggled in my mind.

Monday: after getting back, it was time to get ready for first day of internship. originally i was scheduled to work at SEI investments however since i was late to arrive in ireland, they instantly replaced me for the project. so then there were talks of working as a finance intern at Bentley Systems, their international european company. that was good. however my eusa: non-profit organization trying to get me a job: adviser was away for the week. so her boss put me with a small company called Sky Business Centres. It seemed like a good experience until training.
during training, i met this french girl who had been interning there for four months. i was basically going to be a secretary...eff that. haha i was so pissed throughout the training. however i did learn some html and had a great day talking to Maud for a while. it was much needed after all the lack of talking with my housemates right now (i haven't been able to be myself around them since they are all such good friends already. however i have a good relationship with my roommate who also goes to uconn but i did not know him). but maud was a great girl, she was leaving the very next day, so was going out with the other frenchboy intern and the other guy who ran the other branch of sky business and invited me to join as well. we all went and had three rounds of drinks, i had a guinness, a jameson cocktail, and a bulmers and got pretty tired. it was a great night after work though. i was finally talking and was able to be myself. it was great :-). i will miss maud. :-( - we coulda been great friends.

but the great thing about that day is - while in training, i checked my email right after lunch. apparently i got the internship position at Bentley Systems, and Eusa organized for me to leave SkyBC and not being the office bitch. i was damn glad and happy.

Tuesday: first day at Bentley's. will be in credits and collections department and its a great opportunity to learn. very easy going environment and lots to do. plus 4-5 more essays to do for class and my internship.

now i am tired. i hate lebron. i hate nadal. bye.

So Far Down The Road

Today was my third complete day in Ireland.
It's been pretty quiet. I have yet to rage/go wild, but I am still adjusting to eating whatever it is I bought as food. I have lost a few pounds/kilos since i have been here. Right now I am still getting to know my roommates and opening up. Its going to take a couple more days to really open and drink like a dumbass with them. I bought a bottle of irish creme, some local company but exactly like Bailey's, maybe even more delicious. **yumms**

And I am looking to get into some kind of workout routine with my trusty resistance bands and pushups.

I have been two class sessions, and my professor, J-Sean we call him, is one of the most knowledgeable man I have met. He can talk about anything and everything and connect loose ends like no one can. His spoken word per minute is about 500 hahah, and sometimes when he stumbles he reminds me of Elmer Fudd. What a cute little man.

Ireland is a great country. Its a recovering economy after a great economic fall when the global crisis hit. the people are friendly so far. half the guys are built and other have are clumsily put together. girls are just gorgeous, especially the brunette ones. blondes are ok. i was never a big of blondes. yet to find my desi fly chick. :-(.

also a shout out to Big D, J-Kidd and the rest of the Dallas Mavericks for winning the NBA Championship! There is still hope for the future of basketball and I am excited for it.

I hate LeBron.

Right now, I am not sure where my housemates are. I am just here sitting, chillen, all cool.

Second day, it is raining

I've been sleeping a lot trying to recuperate from the long journey. today i feel great. i realize now is the time to buy groceries since i have really eaten only once, chicken kabab wrap, in the last 28 hours. oh and a granola bar. i have consumed more calories in Guinness and related alcohol than food itself.

Last night went out to the a bar called Flannerhy's. the bar was a three-leveled place.
first level: main area, music, lots of people, dancing, separated at the other end was a smoker's bar.
second level: some less people, another bar area
third level: small area, looked like an indoor balcony, small area with tables and chairs for people who want to just drink and talk or for couples who wanted to canoodle away from the big crowds.

this one bar was a combination of Huskies, Ted's and Thirsty's...the three bars at UConn.

tsk tsk.
